I got out there today late morning to do a non invasive check of the travel corridors to determine where the deer bedded this a.m. given the fresh snow fall. We've had a couple of guys "still hunting" which in there version of it they just walk around all over the place pushing the deer hoping to get lucky. What I found was that they had walked damn near the entirety of the property this a.m. before I arrived. I realized hunting the main property was futile. There were more human tracks than deer tracks. I then went to the far side of the property where there is a thicket and some woods. There were 2 guys hunting there. The only place that hasn't been pressured is the island and I didn't have good wind for the thicket that I like down there. There are 1000 acres of marsh that the deer can hide in and the huntable acres are less than 200 if you exclude the swamp island Oak flat. I'lll get down to the island thicket when the wind is right and get one more hunt in, but I'm just about done. I do have a late season gun permit, I might do that we'll see. But there comes a time in the season, where it's time to wrap it up. I think I'm there.

Happy B-day George!! Today is the last day of the season here. I had planned on two hunts today, but my mother-inlaw went to the hospital last night and the wife is at her bedside. I'm watching the kids. I hope to make it out this afternoon for one last hunt. This season went by quicker than any I can remember, and I hunted far less than any season in the past 4 years. I hope to make it out for some post season scouting/shed hunts.

january is one of my favorite months to hunt, especially if it snows. 95% of the hunting pressure is gone until next mid oct. YES!!!! i found a new area yesterday, loaded with rubs and monster fresh tracks, i have made this area my goal for january, as long as the wind is right. only one more month to go, and deer season is over!!!

Tomorrow is the last day here. I already know the woods everywhere will be infested with hunters so I'm going to break out the 06 and go up to my land in Gates Co and see if the dogs will send one by. It's highly likely that at some time during the day a chase or two will cross my property. I sure would like to get back up to Md this month and meet this aro fella.

Happy Birthday , new years baby eh . i'll be out throughout jan as much as possible. i'm not real big on the jan 6-7 rifle hunt again but will deal with it. seems that once they let the lead fly the dnr doesnt give them much time to settle back down before another rifle/ml season starts. i also am not real sure how many does i want to remove at this time of the year. remember for every doe you kill, you also most likely kill 2 future deer, maybe a worlds record lol . i may get my stamps to do a little goose/duck hunting too during jan, fact is i'm getting them tomorrow .

I,m done for the year. This afternoon was my last hunt. I saw a doe but didn't shoot it, my bro-in-law wanted to take the deer but did not have a good shot, I let her pass and now I'll start playing with my turkey calls.

went out this morning and couldn't bring myself to shoot any of the 7 baby deer I saw. It started raining late morning and I looked at the situation, came back home and went to work. I can't enjoy hunting worrying about a roof leaking.

I think that we've all made memories and had encounters that will well enough, have us looking forward, towards the season to come.
