Timing the rut

After the rut there is a short period where they just lay up and not move nor eat and then they tend to move away from most of the does and occupy areas with the least food supply.
This assures that the doe get as much nutrition as possible.
This pattern holds for much of the winter and into the summer.

I sure agree with that.

We noticed many years ago how the bucks tend to take up on the poorest land.

I don't know TXM, but I have to say he either knows what he is talking about or he did some reasearch. In my post in the other thread I pretty much was had the same theroy as TXM's study. If any of you guys havn't read his posts on this, go back and read them, you will notice that no where in his post did he mention the moon the sun the incoming or outgoing tides or anything else like that . Simply mother natures way of insuring survival is what dictates the core rut. Im not saying not to believe in your moon charts Im just saying I doubt they have much to do with rut activity.
