Not that I'm proud or anything. LOL. It has taken us 3 seasons to get a bird on the ground for him. From Baseball tournaments, spring break trips, moving at the wrong time, poor weather, hung up gobblers, you name it and it probably happened to us. It took nearly 2 hours of calling to get this bird and another to cover what I'm guessing was 300 yards with a hen in tow. Never gobbled the first time and only went into half strut a time or two. He took his bird with the new H&R 3" pump they introduced this year with a 21" barrel and turkey choke. He was shooting a 3" Federal Mag-Shok shell that put the bird down beyond 40 yards. 20lbs. 3oz. 10 1/4" beard, 1" spurs. This second picture is what it is all about for me anymore

Thanks guys. After I seen how the 2nd picture turned out I did decide to have it blown up and framed. Thought it would make a good father's day present to my dad since he isn't here to hunt with them much.
Both my oldest sons have killed deer, but on the drive home from killing this bird I started a conversation with my boys about why we hunted and to make sure they completely understood it wasn't to kill, but that killing was part of hunting. I've seen many that started turkey hunting become driven to just kill a bird and let that override everything else that happened in the spring woods. I think I got my point across to them.
