We moved up here to the extreme NE corner of IL and the Chain O Lakes State Park has an Archery Range. Hay bales at 20 and 30 and 40. I am able to add 5 yards to the forty. They also have an elevated platform which would go out to 40, which I think is just too cool. They also have sand pits right there but the distances are shorter. I could bring out my broadhead target out there though. On the other side they have a 3-d course, although I did not shoot it today. It's about 35-40 minutes from my home and it's free. There was only one other guy shooting there. Didn't look like that 40 yard target gets much attention. My release wasn't that crisp today and a few were getting away from me. I'm going to spend some time over there and see if I can't tighten up that group.

I just discovered that they have a field archery range out there, with distances out to 80 yards. I just shot it for the first time yesterday and sighted in the Spot Hogg. We'll see what the Outback can do at 80.
I'll tell you one thing for sure, 30 seems like a chip shot after you've shot at 65-80.
I like showing 12 arrow groups when I post up. It's a much fairer representation of where I'm at and what the bow really does for me.

I was once in a club that had an 80yd target. It must have been 6ft X 6ft. ;D I loved shooting at that thing with my recurve.

The interesting thing about 80 is that I really can't tell what the group looks like till I walk up. I can see the arrow when it starts dropping down towards the target , but where it hits exactly I can't tell.
NC, Me using a recurve at an 80 yard target would be a hazzard. I need my round sight guard, lined up with the peep and a level to help me be square so that I can shoot at that distance at that distance.
There is a guy there nc, I haven't met him yet. But he brings his own little 2"X2" rifle targets with a 3/4" dot. He's on the target at all the distances and even hitting the dot at 65 yards. This guy I gotta meet. If this guy is really hitting these puppies from the marked distances, I've never seen this kind of shooting. I have to meet this guy.
One of the biggest problems that I'm facing is that I don't want to shoot with other guys anymore. I'm getting a lot of ribbing, oh he's just showing off etc... and yet I really feel that I have a lot of work to do to get my shooting up to where I know it can be. So I really like this new range. Often times I'm the only one there at the practise range and if guys come in I can go and shoot the field target course on my own. I'm just starting to get a feel for this bow.

I once shot lots of back to back shots but I stopped and went to 3 arrow sets, taking a little break between sets. I think I shoot better but looks like you're doing fine as you are. Also, it would tear my concentration all to pieces shooting into the back of my hi dollar arrows. ;D

You and your ACCs. Yeah most of the real good shooters keep telling me that they progress better by shooting one arrow at a time and focusing on what happened at the shot. Honestly at this point I don't think I'm that good and am making the most gains by shooting groups, establishing consistency and then burning the form in. I have a couple more months before I get to working on refinements.

I wouldn't call myself real good but I seriously cut down on the flyers when I went to 3 shot sets. I gotta get new glasses. I can't see where they are hitting even at 40yds. Wish we lived close. I have a friend that enjoys shooting as much as I do but he cusses so much I can't be around it for long so I shoot alone nearly always.
