I found out several things yesterday. First , everyone had a good time and they want to do it again . secondly , the bow i got for Erika is kinda crappy and underpowered for her . the 24 inch arrows were too short for her, she nearly pulled them through the rest . i think i basically blew 50 bucks cause she actually needs a real maybe 35# bow. i figure a 35# one would be good for both Erika and Barb. while I was shooting Erika noticed that i was blinking after i released with the string noise. something i never noticed but once she told me about it i did. not sure if it effects anything but something i need to try and address. it was fun doing something i love to do and seeing them actually enjoying it too . they both cant wait to shoot again , so i'm gonna run with it while it lasts . my new bow is on the way, i cant wait, we will shoot again when it gets here. Barb has also been talking about doing some turkey hunting , need to find a cheap 20 gauge my 12 gauge will knock her on her rump. she'll never deer hunt i dont think but she would like turkey hunting. i'll have to get her out this year early.

I couldn't see the bow you got for Erika because the link didn't work. Is it a compound or recurve? Word the ad right and you may get more for it off ebay than you paid in the beginning if you're considering an upgrade. If she's pulling the weight, you might consider a bow of enough weight to be hunt legal.

the one she got was a recurve fiberglass by bear. the little brave 23 lb draw. she had no problems drawing it , i think she could handle a 35# one , 30# is minimum hunting poundage but 5 more lbs would help with speed and penetration i think. i'll stick with a recurve for her if i can find one within reason. i can always resell it if needed .

Schweeeet. I've been trying to nudge the wife out in the back-yard with her bow, but she has lost interest.
I slung a few yesterday, and had an honest-to-goodness 1.5" group at 30 yds. 4 shafts were touching... I kept hearing them slap in there shot after shot. The 5th was about an inch high off the rest. It's my best 30yd group in a long time. Felt good.

Rick, if you can find one at 40# at 28" or perhaps slightly more, with her shorter draw the poundage will be less. It may work out well and allow her to grow into it also. The longer recurves are better suited for this as they draw smoother and have more speed. Recurves are opposite compounds in regard to speed, ie, longer = faster in recurves.
