Hadn't shot since last Sunday so just for kicks I shot the first arrows today at 40yds. first set I was right proud, to be as rusty as I am.

Nice! I'm not shooting that well at 30 yds right now. Danged flyers.

well, for a little more to the story; After I pulled the arrows I backed to the road and seeing my neighbor was gone crossed over into her driveway and got what I guessed to be 90yds. ;D I have no pin beyond 50 on this bow but what the heck. I wasn't concerned until I heard one rattle. Turned out to be no problem for the ACC but it did bust the 2X6 under the target. From then on I went to 20yds and shot one arrow per spot like I'm suppose to.

I lost one last year at 80 meters. But right there is the beauty of long range shooting. You absolutely must let the bow shoot the arrow, otherwise that arrow's gone. And once you learn how to hold the bow like that, you bring it up close and you just tear them up. By the end of the summer last year, I didn't even want to shoot at 40 yards, unless it was from an elevated position. I think folks underestimate the benefits of long range shooting. Even once every week or 2 makes a huge difference.

If I keep my primary attention on the release squeeze I seem to hold and shoot better. Trumble Archer has a nice touch in his release. Difficult to explain but he's got it down.
