I was sore from working out and didn't really feel like going, but I was so intrigued as to whether I could actually get 100 yards and how I would do at that distance that I was compelled to get out there today. Everytime I've stepped back it has looked ominous, but at 100 yards it just plain looks ridiculous. The whole damned target looks tiny. I had to trim a lane back into the woods to make the range and I had to trim limbs up 12-15 feet high to have adequate clearance. I don't even know if you'll be able to see the target in this picture: The first group, I knew I didn't have the range and I'd dropped the pin to the bottom. Raised the peep, but still not there, raised the peep a little more: Better: From the get go I just had it in my mind to stick with it and not let the distance intimidate me: Another view: And that black goldtip, I was dropping low all day. I'll put a twist in the string and get that peep lined up and that's pretty much all she's giving me with a 403 grain arrow. I'll switch to the ACCs when I get to feeling more confident. This distance though really does test me. It absolutely forces me to do everything right. My comment is to just be patient with the longer distances and it will come together for you.

Too good. I assume you have the sight bottomed out and are raising the peep for more elevation. Here's what I'd like to know when you get the ACCs zeroed for 100yds; without moving anything, what range does your top pin (set all the way up) zero at? ps, what's up with that low hitting goldtip? Have you checked it closely to see how much difference there is in it and the others? Might be interesting to know just how close the tolerences need to be for LR consistancy.

"I assume you have the sight bottomed out and are raising the peep for more elevation."
That's right.
"what range does your top pin (set all the way up) zero at?"
The top pin where it's set now, will be a little high at 20, but I have quite a bit of room, so I should get it. I will check that. I was going to set the pins starting at 20 and then 20 yard increments.
"what's up with that low hitting goldtip? " I checked it when I got home and the weight is right there at 403 grains, as far as I can tell it's straight and sound. The vanes are real wavy though. I'm curious too, I'll refletch it and see if that's was it. The nock seemed okay, but maybe I'll bring a nock and change it out at the range if the fletching doesn't fix it.
If neither of those works then maybe spine or straightness issues beyond what I can see or test.

You should date and tack that target face to your basement wall for future reference and reflection. trust me, there will come a day when you'd like to have it.

Haven't shot in a week so I didn't expect much. I did some fine tuning of the bow, over the weekend and that threw off the peep a bit. Brought the peep up and rotated the string loop, still not very steady. Here feeling a little better just a bit high, notice that black Goldtip with the wavy vanes that was hitting low, I refletched it with white and purple and it's hitting right in there now. I think it was the wavy fletching adding drag: Small sight adjustment and with the ACCs: My release has really started to settle into a consistency that I'm just going to go with now. A little less extreme on the back tension, I'm actually triggering it some now, while applying the back tension, it feels very natural, extremely consistent and I don't have to think about it. SO now I've shifted my focus to holding steady. That's where I have work to do, in the next few weeks. My immediate goal is to get them in the white.

I sighted in at 60 and 40 and then when I sighted in at 20 I realized, I could lower the bracket a notch, so I had to start all over. By the time I was sighted in at 100 I was toast. But my confidence was suffering from the sighting in so I decided to shoot a couple of groups of I believe 10 arrows. This was the first group: Another view: Here except for 1 arrow I felt very consistent: Side view: But clearly I was shooting low and to the left which means I'm done, so I ended it there. There's a shoot on Sunday, but I don't know, I don't feel that I really have things sighted in perfect. I may go anyway, we'll see.
