With the season approaching my efforts have shifted towards shot selection. So I thought what we could try, presenting a shot selection and have that shot critiqued so that we might all benefit from discussion. I think that height, distance and approximate angle would be good as background. And the critique could be in inches: High, low. Left, right And then maybe a short discussion explaining why. So here's my last group from tonight. 12 feet up, 12yards, quartering to approximately 23degrees.

I'm not sure what you're lookin for here. uh, looks like you killed the deer with any of those shots cept the one that took the ear off. ;D I may have shot a little lower and under your back arrow perhaps <2 inches, just behind the crease in the tape at the top of the heart or an inch above. Reason, if the deer did happen to load to bolt as I release, the arrow would still catch it where yours are at the most. If it didn't bolt I'd have a little longer tracking job, which I don't mind. I like to stay a tad low on deer real close esp head turned in my direction. Also an exit in the bottom of the boiler room leaks oil.

For quartering to, that looks danged close to perfect. An inch lower would be ideal for me, but that's splitting hairs.
