For months I've been searching for a way to get up to date aerials without the expense and risk of renting a plane and pilot. I looked at hot air balloons but the cost just isn't feasable. Then I found some folks are doing it with kites. This may be a more reasonable approach. Of course I found a site with info. ;D arch.ced.berkeley.edu/kap/Wouldn't it be cool to have realtime aerials of some of a new hunting spot?

They also make cameras that mount on those rockets you can buy from hobby shops. Build'em yourself. I used to build them. Some of the bigger ones you could put 3 engines in them (3 stage rocket) to get a pretty high flight. They come complete with parachutes too. I never used a camera on mine but I did view some video taken off of some of the rockets my friends launched.......pretty cool. They were in black & white back then but more than likely in color now. You get a pretty good view.

NC - I was thinking of hiring a plane with an IR camera to do a night fly-over of AREA-X the day we get there. ;D Or maybe we can hack a DOD site and reassign an IR satellite for a few minutes.
