Had a brainfart the other day and deleted my digital camera file from the puter. no problem, insert disc and reinstall. Now my puter doesn't recognise the camera. Since I tried unsuccessfully to download some pics since then, my camera is acting very foolish. I'm not sure what's up but I can't get my pics off the camera now and now the camera isn't taking all the pics I try to take and doesn't shut off like it should.

do you still have the cameras download program in your programs? you may have to run the software that came with the camera again . it may recognize it then. the not taking the pictures and not shutting off , not real sure there. maybe change the batteries out and make sure the sd card is inserted all the way.

I don't know anything about this stuff to begin with but I'm hoping I'll get it straight before I kill a deer.
I reinstalled the software but I think it might help if I find the book that came with the camera.

Also try reformatting your camera memory card. You'll have to go to the camera's menu to do that, not through the computer.

I noticed the last time I defragmented my puter that the camera file was fragmented and would not defrag, (I forget the exact wording that came up).
It may be time to reformat the card. I've never done it before.

I don't know if a computer can defrag a camera card. I've never tried it. Normally, there's no reason to do it because when you download the photos, there are no files left on it to be fragmented. If your computer said that it was fragmented, I'd say that you're definitely due for a format. Something's messed up there.
