word I get is there's even bigger ones out there. Here's a littleknown tidbit. The biggest striped bass(rock) ever caught weighed 135lbs and was caught about 4 miles from where I sit. It isn't the record because it was caught in a commercial pound net and not by sporting means.

i was looking for a picture of that fish alan but i guess they werent taking fish stap shots in 1891 Striped Bass Fun Facts: The largest striped bass ever recorded was a 125 pound female from North Carolina, 1891. The oldest ever recorded was 31 years of age. The current Maryland Chesapeake Bay record striped bass is 67 lbs., 8 oz. The average Chesapeake Bay 6-year-old female striped bass produces 500,000 while a 15-year-old can produce over three million eggs. Striped bass tagged in the Bay have been recaptured in Canadian waters, over 1,000 miles away. Striped bass were so plentiful at one time, they were used to fertilize fields.

125 is probably right. I was going from memory of the local story. They fished with rowboats back then.
