Why BPCR? Well....what can I say? Nostalgia, a subtle underlying desire for days of long ago, a feeling of true freedom awander on the High Plains of Texas, a longing for success in aquistion of fame and fortune...or just an appreciation for being alive in general? All these must have been the feelings of those that went west of the Mississippi River along about 1870 to hunt buffalo! At a time when the daily wage in the eastern states averaged a mere $1.13, knowing that buffalo hides were bringing $3.00 per hide on the High Plains created much incentive for seeking their fortunes beyond the Mississippi River!
Modern man cannot go back and relive those days but in one way we can; by acquisition of an 1874 Sharps Rifle and learning to appreciate the fine qualities thereof! With modern steels and CNC technology and with a fine company akin to say Shiloh Rifles of Big Timber, Montana whom makes the exact same rifle today....one can learn to appreciate the fine old rifles that the Buffalo Hunters had at their disposal! Not only did their rifles provide a then current living by eliminating the American Bison....but on a daily basis it provided for the security of all those whom were following the herds upon the hunting ranges by keeping various tribes of Apaches, Kiowa, Commanche, Sioux, and Lakota at bay because early on the tribes learned about the effectiveness of the Sharps at long range!
For those that have possibly and under-lying desire to "tune in and drop out" of the hub-bub of the everyday modern world....I've provided the link below to let you do just that!
