How many times do you shoot before cleaning the barrel when you're sighting in?
I usually run a solvent or oil patch over a brush down the barrel a couple of times followed by a clean patch after every 3 or 4 shots. I don't try and shine the barrel, just keep the buildup at bay.

i always run it every 2 shots while sighting it in. if just joy shooting i tend to do it much less , it shows in the shots as it gets dirty too. its getting about that time too.. get out everything and go over it.

NC - It depends on the gun. My Encore has a very tight bore & with the 240-gr XTP & green sabot I have to run both sides of a pre-lubed patch down after every shot or I don't get another shot down! On the other hand, I can shoot 30-conicals without swabbing in the White M97 45-cal.
