"E. A. Vaughn WMA- 2,630 acres - Furbearers (trapping permits issued through bid process), forest game, upland game, dove, waterfowl and deer (bow, muzzleloader, shotgun and rifle). Disabled accessible north of Scarboro Creek. Caution squirrel hunters: endangered Delmarva Fox Squirrel may not be hunted."
Another public spot that is a personal favorite in early and late season. this WMA is well taken care of and crops are planted yearly on a few large tracts. lots of open area and wooded areas on the sides. has a nice mixture of wetlands, crops ,woodlands, and some lowlands, all in one. For all of you waterfowlers, i can honestly say i have never been out there without seeing ducks. deer populations are medium as this place is hit very hard during early blackpowder and rifle seasons.
Turkey populations like everywhere on the eastern shore of MD are exploding. walking the main road last year i had 4 gobblers calling out. I have my eye on one that eluded me last year, a wise old tom, and plan to hit it again this spring.
small game hunting is iffy unless you are hunting squirrels. just be careful and dont shoot the Delmarva Fox Squirrels. quail are spotty but getting better. rabbits are spotty also as well as woodthingy. doves are plentiful early in the season due to the barley they ussually grow there. a smaller tract in worcester county but an 8 out of 10 I would say.
