I got a real good look at the buck that made these when he crossed the road right in front of me and stopped at about 40yds to look back. He was the big boy of the trip for me. above the lighter falls freely totally inside the track. same track with the lighter moved aside. It's not difficult to sort a track like this from others. Funny thing though. I monitered many fence holes and road crossings every day in the area we hunted. This buck never left a track in any of those places. It's possible, maybe likely, this buck was the same one Rick saw but I don't know. How many 26" wide huge bucks can there be in a five square mile area of very rugged ground?

"How many 26" wide huge bucks can there be in a five square mile area of very rugged ground? " That could be the 6 million dollar question....with the terrain and brush cover in some of those hills definitely more than 1 or 2 imo.just the hill i was on and the brush on that point towards the road could hold a few good ones. not including the place across the road from there, it looked like a real good spot too when i was there the last evening. i do know i would love to take a roadtrip during the "showoff month" of august and get a glimpse at the bachelor groups up that way . i sure wish i had a picture of the 2 i saw that were shooters. of coarse the 8 pointer had a free ride because i had already seen the 26" wide one . i take it you looked real close at the one picture you took of that one when it ran?

I find the more I trophy hunt, the more important good pics become. Over the years I've seen a few tremendous bucks and came away with only the memorys. Locally I'm fairly well known for the bucks I've killed and guys just can't believe I keep going off hunting and not killing anything at all. They just don't understand and words can't relate. You tell someone around here about passing on a 18"wide ten pt and they just know you're lying. ;D At least now Rick can confirm what I've been going thru since 1999.

this one? I got to rubbing my eyes and replaying the events over and over but I don't think this one is quite as big as the one that crossed the road but I would have shot either one.

oh, that's not the pic you meant. sorry. I've looked at the other pic but so far haven't been able to pull him out, probably just a tad late. I got all shook up and blew the perfect pic the big one offered crossing the road but did snap one as he went up the hill. I was hoping I had him in it but not to be.

Man, I'm counting the days too. It would take me a REAL LONG TIME to get bored with hunting that place in Ohio. November 4th, 2006! And I ain't passing on anything over 100 inches. If I score early I'll hunt a doe next, and if there's season left after that I'll scout for next year or hunt with a camera. Did I mention how much I liked that place?
