Ohio's Top Typical Archery Buck From 2004Tim Reed's incredible Muskingum County typical now ranks as the third-highest-scoring whitetail ever taken by a hunter in Ohio. Not bad -- especially considering that it was taken on public land!for the full story; click herewhere there's one, there's more.

I agree where there is one he has left his seed or his daddy has. its amazing to me how in some states the public hunting land is frowned upon. it may be terrible to gun hunt due to crowds but archery season isnt too bad. thats a mighty nice buck too, aep land eh . we both saw some pretty decent bucks up that way , you would need a month to figure that place out better as big as it is . how many more days till nov

Rick, check your maps. The AEP land the buck above came from isn't the same AEP land we hunted. I believe there are 3 AEP lands in Ohio. All are big and all produce trophy bucks.

i see now. where i was at was not in muskingham but morgan county, the top half is located in muskingham county. where you saw that big buck that night near the northern part was in muskingham . I cant wait to get back there, might have to try and find something of interest for the family nearby, possible mid summer camping trip . i am confused though isnt brad jermans bigger than that or do they consider a crossbow different i do know public land in ohio is some pretty good stuff

The more I look at Reed's buck, the more impressive it becomes. That's a lot of bone. I cannot convey in words the feeling I get when I am on ground that caliber of buck walks. I have to be careful not to become totally obsessed with it. Perhaps we can all go over there to the area he killed it and hunt a day or two. I've driven thru the area but didn't walk any there. I did do a good bit of walking at Blue Rock, not far away. Blue Rock is beautiful but I couldn't find sign of any big animals there except doe. We may find some knappable material over that way.

Wife's got alot of family from Muskingum on down across the river into KY.Her and the kids were out about 3 weeks ago.Said the dang turkeys were waking them up every morning!!! One of her great uncles had 170 acres on the north side of the Muskingum River. After a few years I finally looked at some of the racks up in the barn. Unbelivable! Weren't anything special to them. And big bodied deer too!
