anybody thinking of hunting in wyoming in the future, they are switching to a preference point system next year for elk, deer, antelope.(moose and sheep are already on a pt system). you can apply for a pt only this year, if you miss this opportunity you will be far behind everyone else.
elk due jan 31 deer&antelope due mar 15

Heck,I always beat the odds.In the wrong DIRECTION! I've applied in a WY antelope zone the last 3 years that runs 50-75% NR draw, and still nothing.Applying CO elk with 7 pts this year and no hope.Someday.....

yeah i have failed to draw for wy antelope in the past, but gonna try again this year. have built up some pref pts for sheep and moose, for future hunts. i am hoping that this year will be the year for my maine moose permit, the wife and i both have 6 bonus pts. its around 1-76 chance for non res, so i figure with 10+10+6+6=32 chances, i'm approaching the 50% mark.
good luck, and remember if you dont apply you cant draw!!!

aro, I drew the Maine moose tag in 2000-my tenth year of applying. My brother STILL hasn't pulled one. With the way it's set up now (can buy unlimited points,so long as your wallet holds up),I really don't think it's that fair.Drew NH my second year,in '97.A buddy pulled one the same year-his FIRST try! Like you said, gotta play to win! Good luck.Dave
