well i got the "fuel milage tune". for $157.70 its definetly worth it. my average has went from 11.8mpg to 14.1mpg. its a cake walk to install. actually gives it some horsepower too. feels a lot better. you chevy guys really should consider getting one. my driving style hasnt changed so i know they are real gains. im very anal about my fuel milage. im not sure why.....oh wait....maybe cause old w is sticking it in my arse with these fuel prices.

These are mod chips you install yourself. You can pick up a 3-pack on ebay really cheap. Less than $50. They make them for gas mileage increase, horsepower increase etc. You unplug one of the sensors on the engine, i think it might be an air flow sensor or something to that effect, then plug in the chip to the connector and tape it up. It fools the computer in thinking there is less air or more air, depending on which chip you put in, so it adjusts your timing and other parameters to achieve maximum performance for that chip.
Not sure if this is what you had done eshore, but if it is, you paid way to much.

just send him a check with your vin# and tell him any mods you have. and tell him you want the "fuel economy tune". i filled up last night and averaged 12.5mpg. went 400 miles on this tank and 130 of that was pulling a 3000lb. trailer. before the tune i promise you that would have at best been around 10mpg. the guy is very reputable and well known in the tuning world. buy the way, most custom tunes run between $300-$500. this is no chip, it is an actual pcm. you guys all know i wouldnt recommend this if i hadnt bought and tested it myself.

ya but you still got those stock size donuts for tires. i got about 13.5 before the bigger tires. by the way the guy also adjust the computer for larger size tires and different size gearing. all which will through off your speedo. im telling you guys, nc, dave, rick, you wont be disappointed with this product. that cap is going to increase you gas milage. everyone tells me they get 1 mpg better with a cap or bed cover.

Eshore, That is a good deal for a pcm. I figured you were talking about a chip. I've got a 94' chevy z71 ext cab short bed that gets right around 16 mpg and it's got a 5.7 litre engine......no cap or cover though. Not bad I guess for a stock truck.
