I found a really good mechanic who is really decent on prices. hope he dont get too busy and raise his prices lol. ok here was the deal new rotors all the way around and new pads all the way around with labor complete $323 . i had to go pick the parts up and bring them with me but he orders them and gives you the actual price he pays (50% of retail), he only charges for labor. $420 parts for $210 with tax was $223. he actually only wanted $70 to install all 4 rotors and change the pads but i gave him $100. at my other place it would have been almost $800 for the exact same deal ;D and i know the quality of the parts too since i paid for them , all top notch stuff. first fair mechanic i have found in quite a while, sure hope he stays that way ;D

oh my god! do you have any idea.......im not even going to say it. why would you buy new rotors if you dont need them? most places charge $10 to turn a rotor thats $40. pads should be at most $40 an axle. like $150 parts most. disc brakes are as easy as taking the wheel off, unbolting the calipers taking the old pads out and puting the stuff back together. then bleeding if neccessary. these new chevy trucks commonly go over 100,000 miles on original brakes. some guys on www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php? are getting 150,000 out of the 2500, 3500 trucks on original brakes. im sorry buddy you did get a really good deal for a garage though. ;D

Todd, the rear rotors were shot, the front ones were ok if turned . with his 50% discount i figured it best to go ahead and change them alll out. i plan on keeping this truck for another 100,000 miles at least . by the way, i know how to do the pads but its so much easier when ya got the right tools to do it with. also i,m a carpenter and get very frustrated with working on cars . by the way if you buy those $40 pads have fun listening to all the brake noise

the 2500 and 3500 trucks have heavier duty brakes than my 1/2 ton does. i felt the brakes never owed me anything. also i would have had to buy a star socket which would have been some 30 bucks i'm sure, not including the seperater tool to reset the calipers. my wifes Mercury eats brakes and rotors for lunch, Ford has some serious warpage problems with their rotor design , at least in her mountaineer there is. just the parts at Napa was 394 plus tax, and like Nc said my hands are still clean for the next 2 weeks
