I finally got so tired of the troubles with the sticking needle valve and put my boat in the shop last week. He's suppose to have it ready any time. I'm looking forward to dependable but I'm sure not looking forward to the bill. Since Rick mentioned he was kinda lookin for a boat, I've been taking note of what I see around for sale. Folks are proud of their junk these days.

my brother had someone give him a grady white, after taking a look at it i kinda figured out why . its gonna take a year to get back together. another case of a remodel gone bad . he offered me half ownership if i put it in my yard . i'm not sure the tires are worthy of trailering the 15 miles from his place to mine. he saw it before he started remodeling it and thought that was what the guy was going to bring to him. i'm not even sure whether its worth putting all the work into it or not. i've also been looking for a camper so i dont have to mess with the apache with the family. its kinda small for 4 and a dog and takes about 2 hours to wrap up from camping. kinda looking for a near free in cherry condition lol. yes i've also found people think their junk is worth way more than i do .

its an older model. its exactly or would be exactly like this one cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4642537497&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT it has a 120 hp force motor that the guy said he just got rebuilt. he also says he has all new rails and some other items that he has yet to bring. its a mess right now because he has it torn apart a good bit. he planned on remodeling it but is going through a divorce and decided he was never going to finish it. i am waiting to get all the "stuff" before i decide whether its going to be worth all the trouble. the trailer is a dual axle that only needs tires and new lights put on it. its not what i would have bought , i was more interested in a bowrider.

the boat itself is in great shape the cuddy cabin is in good shape. all the windshields ,railings, and other things need put back together on it. the windows on the cuddy cabin he had pieces of wood put over thenm and a tarp to keep the water out. the floor is in decent shape except for a small soft area where you enter the cabin. short of time and maybe 500 to a grand at best it could be back to like new.

I'm looking forward to dependable but I'm sure not looking forward to the bill. While I can work on a lot of stuff, sometimes it pays to just take it in and have them work it over. A home cleaning job on a carb just isn't the same as what a shop can do in a tank. I fiddled with the carb on my motor for a whole summer and finally gave up and took it in. Turned out to be an electrical problem. It sure had me fooled. Dick

I still don't have my boat back. I called the guy 2 weeks ago and he had gone over the motor and found a lot more wrong than I knew was bad. Said he was waiting on parts he ordered. Water pump bad, carb missing parts, water in the gas. I know I grow weary of waiting. Getting up mornings before day and looking out over the river makes me long for my boat. I'd hoped to take my boy fishing Father's Day but that didn't happen. Now I'm wonderin if I'll have it by July 4th. I know he had 10 or 15 boats there to be worked on so I'm being patient but it sure would be nice to be catchin yellerbellies this morning. lol.

Finally got the boat back yesterday evening along with the $295 tab. The wife was kinda puffy at the bill until I reminded her the price of a new outboard. From his description, it has been gone thru top to bottom and should run like new for a good while. Too bad I have to work today to pay for it.

Yes,nc you are right about a little work.it is a 1967 6.0 hp Mercury.I put it on the water already and it did pretty good.I just want to replace some things and maybe get my RPM'S up a little. You can tell at times that it wants to run faster but than it goes back to a slower speed. So I'am going to replace the fuel tank and couplers and put in known fresh gas.I got some paint to give it a fresh look and a new pull rope spring. It starts good and the previous owner had the impellor replaced in the water pump so I think it will work well for me as a kicker motor. It just needs some TLC.......I hope.

It's a good motor. I've got a 6hp Merc out in the barn that was my grandad's. I think it's a 63 or 64. I used it a lot when I was a teenager. Haven't used it in many years but I would almost bet it will start easily. The issue I have with it is the weight. It's a heavy motor for only 6hp. One thing about it, it'll run all day on just a few gallons of fuel.
