Past couple of times we've had rain, I've been having weird problems on the net.
This morning, this site, google, and one local news site are all I've been able to get to come up. Anything else I try comes up 'cannot find server'.
suggestions?

have you rebooted your computer at all lately? have you cleaned up your temp files? that seems weird , ussually when i get that its because of a pdf file that has whacked the whole system up. ussually turning the puter off and back on ussually takes care of the problem for me.

yeah, I rebooted it twice so far and still the same. I usually clean the puter up every Sunday morning, sometimes more often. Defrag, run spybot and c crawler, the whole scmear. Last weekend I had problems but by noon Monday when things dried out, the problems disappeared. somethin's screwy. If I can pull up one or two sites, looks to me like all of em should work. Maybe the ISP is having some kind of problem.

Check your HOSTS file. C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc\HOSTS Right-click and open with Notepad. Worms and virii target it to deny your access to update your anti-virus and security software, etc by routing requests back to your machine. I use mine to block ad servers, etc. It may also be your provider's DNS server, as does happen occasionally. I've had that from time-to-time with mine.

Your kids probably activated the built-in P chip. It's designed to prevent parents from hitting questionable websites without proper children's supervision.

My 88 year old mother has a computer that she uses mainly for email. Every time a grandkid visits, they get on the web and do who knows what. It was getting very bogged down and took about 10 min to boot up. Who know what all was running in the background. I finally reformated the thing this spring. It really speeded things up. When I was backing stuff up before I reformated, I found some temp files from some porn sites. I'm afraid to ask which grandkid got those on there. That was probably the source of whatever was wrong with the computer.
