I just finished reading an article in Popular Mechanics about mini-cars that get 30+ mpg. To get 30+, you need a car you can carry in a backpack and that has a moped engine. I have a '93 Olds Cutlass with a 3.3L engine. As long as I stay under 75 mph, I get 30 mpg. It's twice the size of those mini-cars and has an engine that's more than double the size and power. If I need to pass a car loitering at 74, it's got plenty of power to get the job done without screwing around. (yes, the freeway limit in Idaho is 75 ;D). So, if they could build a mid-sized car in '93 that gets 30, why can't they do it today?
