One of the primary reasons I got a metal carport was to have a place to put my boat so I wouldn't have to unload all the gear out of it every time I went fishing. The sun is hard on fishing line, rods, and just about anything else it bears down on so I was glad to finally have things more to my liking. While my boat was in the shop the empty space allowed for a new front entry door I haven't installed yet, a gasoline powered air compressor, a ladder hoist motor, a lawnmower, a 5gal can of glue, and several boxes of coil nails. Until I get the space cleaned out I've been leaving it loaded and just covering it with a tarp since I use the boat often now. Well that was good until the 3+ inches of rain we had sunk the tarp to the bottom of the boat and effectively held perhaps 100gallons of water. Removing the drain plug is of no use because the bottom of the boat is dry, the tarp holding all the water. Alas, my options are bailing it out or siphoning it. (I don't have a bilge pump) At any rate, I coulda been flyrodding at daylight this morning but my boat's full of water.

Been meaning to do the same. Have had a pile of phone poles stacked up out back for 3+ years,"waiting" on me to put up a pole shed for the boats,"spare" tractor, etc.Just haven't gotten around to it yet. Been leaving my most used boat out in the opening, and having to put all the gear in and out everytime. It's getting old. Last year,my youngest somehow put the plug back in.A few days before a BIG rain. Can't believe that the tires didn't pop,or the springs break. Seriously doubt I'll get to the shed this year either. Heck,as soon as I finsih my fencing jobs here ,I've got a few pallets of 8" block waiting on me. Can't wait to go to work tomorrow and rest.

Pull the drain plug and poke a small hole in the tarp...make it one small enough for a good duct tape patch.
I have a half of a plastic drum that I use to fill with water to test drive my motor. When I have to leave the boat outside with a tarp, I set the drum on the middle seat and tarp over it. It makes a good rain shed.

I rolled the water into the bottom of the boat and let it drain out.
