I'm trying to price a remodel job and part of it is laminate flooring. How does what you're using compare pricewise to Pergo?
Also, do you open several boxes and shuffle them together or one box at a time?

PERGO! dont say that word around me. pergo is JUNK! we have about...oh......a thousand different lamanite floors at work and what ive seen of ricks flooring and the standard price for it, its WAY BETTER than pergo. there is more than one type of pergo too.

what i used killed home depot and pergo in price . its better quality and i got it for 1.83 a sq ft. it already has a backer built right in so unless your going right over a subfloor it doesnt need any underlayment, that saves another .69 a sq ft . i had to go to Newark and pick it up at a will call warehouse. shipping was free to the warehouse .in my kitchen with the vinyl down already i put it right over the vinyl. in the living room i'm going to use a underlayment so i get a moisture barrier between that and the subfloor . here is the link to what and where i got mine www.floorshop.com/laminate-flooring/preswick-laminate-flooring/preswick-10-3mm-natural-wood-r-plus/spicewood/store/sku.cfm?item_id=377837i randomly pulled it out from 2 boxes at a time . this kind had a pretty good variety of grains per box. i started trying to pick boards out but found that just randomly grabbing them and installing turned out better and was less hassle . what i liked particularly about this brand was it comes in 3 1/2 inch pieces with a slight beveled edge on all 4 sides. it makes it look just like the real deal . i would have used regular hardwood except with my dog it would have gotten ruined in no time, the laminates hold up to dog traffic much better than real hardwood.

crossposted with todds post damn link wont work grrr. Todd is right about pergo , way overrated , especially the stuff they make for the lumber giants, its the lowest budget stuff they can make . check out some of the stuff on the site above and see if they have a warehouse nearby for a will call pick up, then you can double up the price of the floor and harry homeowner will still be happy about the price lol. checking your zip code on the site told me the nearest will call for you is like 250 miles away i'm lucky and am only 94 miles from the nearest warehouse here.

well its been a long couple of days but i finally got er done. the living room is still a mess but i can put things back in order tomorrow . it was quite the pain in the rear to work around everything in the room though. 10 year old carpet isnt fun taking out either . it did make the room look so much bigger though and should be easier to take care of, i doubt i'll ever have carpet again. area rug yes carpet no lol. all in all worth the effort .
