My old fridge doesn't seem to be keeping the cool on.
What would you do?

i've fixed a few things on refridgerators before , but it was mostly the defrost unit. is it freezing around the top of the fridge or just not getting cold at all. if the coils freeze over it doesnt work well, if its a condenser or refridgerant problem, most times its easier to replace than fix. I just went through a new washer in less than 2 years. the kit to fix it that I needed was $200 and then you had to tear it apart and basically fix all the seals etc. when i went to buy the kit at the appliance parts store , the guy started telling me about all the special tools I may need to complete the job. I ended up just getting a new one for $400 . I figured I didnt save much money but did save lots of frustration

Check to see if the condensor coils on the bottom are plugged up with dirt & lint, if so clean them real good. Get a thermometer and put inside the refrigerator. If working good it should be around 35-38 degrees F. You could also have your freezer setting set too cold and the duct from your freezer to your fridge is icing up not letting enough air flow through to cool the fridge down. Is there a fan running inside...from the freezer to the fridge? Maybe the seal on the door is torn or the door is slightly bent not getting a good seal. Is the freezer working good?
