Went out today for a few hours. To tell you the truth this is the first time I've been in the woods since my futile February shed hunts. I have been doing a lot of glassing from my truck though, so that counts for something.....right? The main purpose was to get my game camera going finally, and check out the mast. I took my bow in case I happened across any squills who would cooperate and give me a shot on the ground. I have to say that a 70# compound is slight overkill, but it's good practice. I jumped up 3 bucks on my way in, and one looked pretty nice, but the other two were typical basket racked bucks. I jumped them right where I found a cluster of rubs and several beds while on a shed hunt. hmmmmm, a plan is forming. enough rambling...here's the trophy squill pic. ;D

I did lose an arrow. I took a shot that had no backstop close behind, and with the thick spring growth I lost site of it. I hope to find it this fall. Not a big loss though since these are the arrows that I got 3 years ago when I bought the bow. My hunting arrows are safely stowed away. It still sucks to lose an arrow though.

Very impressive! That brush has gotta be over 5 inches! I've tried 3,267 times to shoot a squill with a bow and have only one small one to show for my efforts. I've been thinking of going on a canned squill hunt to get a trophy the 'easy way,' but just don't have the money. It's so expensive! ;D
What type of head do you use on your arrows?

I have shot a few squirrels from my treestand with BH's, but this is the first time I've actually went out looking to kill only squirrels. I used a judo point. Didn't care for the result much because I had to finish him. Squills are tough...next time I will have some old BH's screwed on.

They are tough. I use judo points. One time I had an arrow glance off the tree first and nock the squill 20feet to the ground. He jumped right up after hitting the ground and climbed back up the tree.
