Jeff, i looked at both of them as well as this one too . cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4557002990&category=50064lets start with the first one. the lift system is by far the most important thing i look at , not necessarily expensive, around 700 to repair like a factory new one ( remember these systems are lasting over 30 years so it would be good forever if you did ) but they can be very tricky to put in from what i am reading. why do you think i havent changed mine yet lol, i'm sorta scared to mess with it while it is working. would be better if they had inside pics to be sure what they are saying that it is in good shape before buying it. i would say with the new 3 way fridge ( i would ask if they just didnt replace it with a dorm style one, the propane fridge comes in handy on primitive sites.) and with an air conditioner already cut in (saves tons of work) and if the inside is ok it is worth 6 or 700 tops with a broken lift system. its a nice year though to buy probably one of the best no skimping in material, company was very solvent at this timeframe. this is the one in texas, it will cost 150 to get home, its worth 300 from ebay imo maybe 3. problem is if your not very mechanical forget it . i do know a guy who puts the lift systems in but he is in michigan, most do them themselves but not exactly fun to do. no furnace the second one in md lift system works a plus , cushions look ok but half of the camper is missing, there should be a couch in the one picture opposite the cabinet work, it appears to be gone. living hinge he is talking about costs maybe 200 for the whole camper probably less, not hard to do once you get the jest of it. i really dont like all the cracks in the bedends and if he is telling you it needs new countertops my guess is they arent very usable at all. looks like the one i got the other day to an extent but doesnt have a furnace and all my parts are there. maybe worth 800 but wouldnt give more than 300 for it , could be fixed up nice but the no furnace sucks and the stress cracks are just too much. the one i posted at the top is probably the better of the 3, appears to have at least shown an interest in keeping it campable. got a furnace, fridge is a cooler type one but coolers work. a little spit and polish and maybe a new edge on the countertop or new one , new living hinges (200 tops) looks like a royal which has a 10 ft box , i like the awnings. needs a spare obviously but worth maybe 900 or 1000 maybe more. of the 3 this is the one i would be watching.being in ny it is a ride , i would try and get it for 6-800 at the most. remember i know i good bit about fixing these up to an extent, for me it isnt hard, its actually a labor of love lol saving an old apaches life makes me feel good . i will warn you they are generally always sort of a work in progress . once the mechanical end is finished up you'll want to revamp the interior lol or do something to it. mine has served me very well so far, someday i will attempt a new lift system on it.

keys ussually arent a problem jeff, i have a few sets and they ussually work . the bed ends can be a stress point some have small cracks but the ones on the camper in md are pretty extreme . they can be fixed though .. with a little patience and an abs welder . cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4557950540&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT

When I decided to begin shopping for one, I knew I wanted a fixer upper but didn't want to get into repairing/replacing a lift system until I learned more about them so I shopped accordingly. I bid on a couple on ebay before one I liked came up that I didn't get outbid on. I was being patient and holding to my spending limit yet still looking for one that was useable. Glad I waited. I see they are constantly coming up on ebay so I think if one gets away, it's no biggie as others will be coming along. One thing is for sure. I never paid much attention to popup campers before but now I spot them all over the place. Every time I see one I'm looking to see if it's an Apache. ;D

I figured my little S-10 could pull one of those easily. I just need one for 2 to 3 people. My camper (the blue one next to the bus) is 3000 lbs and I am scared to pull it with my S-10. But I noticed that most of the pop ups are about 1/2 the weight. So now I will have to keep watching to see if you put it up for bid on here.

Yeah when you buy one thru ebay there are things to consider, pickup being one. Another is doing the deal on a business day so you can get the temp tag needed to pull it legally. That means time off work usually. It works well if you can combine the pickup trip with something else along the way. I think the location of the unit has a whole lot to do with the price it brings on ebay.

dont be shocked at what you see in person lol, remember everything is fixable. hopefully the lift system works well. you did ok with it i forgot to mention the awnings , they are worth what you paid for the camper . they are pretty unique. hey its about time we got a burnt orange one . welcome to the addicting world of apaches lol. now like Alan said every camper you see, youll be looking to see if it is an apache. speaking of lol i ran across an apache that is older than dirt and is the regular camper, like the blue one in the other post. very interesting indeed lmao. my neighbors have got to think i have flipped .
