first morning, got in the woods just a bit late at 6:15 ( man it gets light early lol) . went to the chandler tract and didnt see anything, i know there are lots of birds there. next tried at 10 ish to try and get into eavaughn, no chance as 3 trucks were parked in 1 spot and 2 in the other. if i knew where they were hunting i could go in but since i didnt know i didnt go in. rode over by milburn landing and passed a dozen or so trucks going by. there were trucks parked all over whitesburg and fleming roads too. i slipped into a spot by the swamp at scotty road and called in a hen and a hunter lol. no luck or gobbles at all today, it will get better though.

second morning, got in at 6 am never heard a peep from the roost . since i run and gun generally i just moseyed around listening for a gobble and giving an occasional call. i walked up on a hen walking down the road, got busted , she didnt alarm , just flew off. i,m fairly sure it was alone. around 9 i set up (resting lol) and called some . had a hen and a jake come by at around 25 yards or so. since i have to work (boo) i had to scoot on out about 9:45 or so. once i got home i heard a gobble out back behind the shed, since i didnt have time i just figured i'd roost it and try in the morning. went out back about 6:45 or so. about 7 :20 i heard a bird fly up on roost. soon he gobbled and i knew i was in business. hes roosted in the far corner behind the house by the field, should be fairly easy to get in and set up (famous last words lol) we'll see in the morning. pretty sure its a mature gobbler , if it isnt it will get to walk another day , although it may anyway .

april 20th, went out back of the house and had the tom coming but it just wouldnt show itself. it kinds scooted around me and would never cross the ditch back over, i had to go to work or i woulda worked it some more.
april 21,
out back again and had it gobbling then it went silent, tried to make a slight move and got busted. later my calling brought in a hen and it was really close like 20 feet and never knew i was even there. dont wanna pressure this bird any it may have to be my ace in the hole.

sat april 22, was supposed to meet a friends son at snowhill at 6 am , waited till 6:45 and nothing so i wasted some prime morning time. went into the honeyhole (ussually) and had a tom gobble a few times and was very close but it was moving with hens i guess, it never came my way just kept going. since i just got busted on a move the day before i figured i would stay put this time, nothing. heard a few hens putting around some but never did see any. with the rain the night before and the sandy roads i felt 10:30 to be a good time to stalk and scout . never saw a single track crossing or going down the roads. i feel since it has been so damn dry around they moved where water access was easier, out of the area. rained about 11 am and i got good and wet . i'll leave this place alone now for a week or so. the good thing is hunter pressure will or should be near zero till next fri or sat, i'll finally get some single access to some other spots i already scouted. i hope they never screwed things too bad
