Well the first day was pretty uneventful. it rained off and on and drizzled most of the day. the wind was blowing about 20 mph , not the best of days. I did watch some turkeys scratch and saw a small spike this afternoon , but that was about the extent of it. "The Beast " Is Itchin at the Trigger ;D the mosquitoes were the worse i have ever seen em this morning, I had to turn the thermacell on walking in but it did no good. They were deadly

Sept 16, Rained off and on very hard today. I went out this evening and got chewed up getting to a place to hunt. worse skeeter infestation I have seen ever I believe. Tried 3 different spots all the same skeeter city, should have just went where i wanted in the first stop. nothing sighted bad setup, couldnt make it to my spot i wanted to get to ... did I mention skeeters by chewed up i basically meant anything exposed ( nose and eye area) were being attacked as well as they were flying in my eyes, mouth etc. I'm surprised a deer just didn't come by to be taken out of its misery ;D not sure how they can stand it.

I got the screen bug suit, gloves , headnet, thermacell etc, but they still bug me and my eye area is still exposed , they will dive right in there too. they are just bad right now and probably till a frost or they break a cycle ,most likley till a frost . they still fly around you with the suit and thats nearly as bad to me lol . sorta like walking through a spiderweb, not sure which is worse the spider or its sticky web lol.

Sept 21, I went down south of here and the spot I wanted to hunt was taken, I really gotta quit posting where I hunt . same truck I saw down there last weekend Pa tags . I wonder if its someone who moved down here and hasnt got their tags switched over (if thats the case I'll bet they got their license switched ) or they are just here for a week or 2 to start the season. The place is plenty big enough for 2 if you knew where they already were anyway. anyway, got into a spot where I had a great view, I wanted to see where they were coming and going to for future reference. I had 1 doe and 2 fawns walk within 20 yards , but they were very young so i let momma walk. of coarse they hung around for awhile just to rub it in . I saw 5 or 6 come out into the soybean field but they were 100 yards or so to the east and weren't looking like they were planning on moving much. they didn't either just hung around eatin beans. I had a few run while leaving after dark but they dont count . 9 deer seen total, no horns that I could tell. they are moving in this cooler weather though. the skeeters were terrible again walking in but once up the tree and the thermacell was on relief. on the way out it was cool enough that I never saw a 1 .

Sept 23, I went out back this evening, wind was blowing 20-30 all day today, it was warm low 80's. I went to my doghouse blind I have setup and hunted the last 2 hours. I saw a mature doe with 2 little ones. she was very leary of the open windows in the blind but gave me several shooting oppurtunities. I had reservations since she had the very little younguns, maybe when she runs em off or maybe next time I see her not sure. I also saw a lone red but couldnt get him close enough with my mouth smootches i was making . he was interested in the sound though but got downwind or just had better things to do. The skeeters are still terrible though.

Sept 25, I went out back into the blind about 5:30 tonight. Its just too convienient and skeeter free . About 6:15 I had 12 turkeys come by with a doe pushing them along. she was right on the last birds tail nose down. maybe they were bothering her youngins or something, but she pushed em right outta sight. I was sure she was going to come back but she didn't show. later I could hear a few birds take to roost and some walking in the leaves but nothing came back by me. it was a really nice fairly cool evening and very relaxing. very enjoyable 1 doe 12 turkeys

Sept 27, I went out back earlier tonight , still in sort of an observation mode on whats exactly back there. pretty uneventful til about 7 pm. I saw 2 big deer move along the clearcut. large bodied but I couldnt tell what they were. Then i saw 1 trailing behind, it was a huge bodied buck that looked very close to being a shooter buck, I could see his horns with the light from the clearcut behind his head. I saw 4 points on 1 side but he was moving pretty good with something in mind . He may be a year away or may be ready this year, just couldnt say by the look i got tonight. I'll have to do some more checking it out and see if i can get a better looksy. It is a buck I havent seen yet though , I know that much. 3 deer/ 1 buck 2 ?

Oct 4 After spending the last 2 days cleaning the shed out , I jumped out back real quick at just about 5:30 ish. I slipped into my blind and settled in. About 6 I saw the 3 point that I have pictures of shedding , I watched it eat acorns for about 1/2 an hour. It came within range 2 different times but It gets a pass for the next few years from me . Just a few minutes after the 3 pointer left a basket 6 strolled by the clearcut edge. Its not a shooter but looks like it has some ok genes. I had to hang around for a little extra tonight as a few deer were moving around after shooting light. I still think I scared a few off leaving the blind, not real sure whether it was me making the noise or i was hearing things lol, it wasnt much but i Thought I heard 1 run off . 2 bucks 3 point and a 6 point

need to catch this up . Oct 18th my annual night before early muzzleloading archery trip . setup along the edge of a bean field. I saw 1 doe and 2 fawns that were not even up to the beans . I couldn't get a shot at the momma but one of the youngins ate beans for 1/2 an hour just 20 feet in front of me . I later saw a button buck walk right by, no doubt i could have taken it. had a red fox right downwind and came within 5 or 6 feet of me at one time . drew on it but couldnt get any shots. 1 momma and 2 fawns 1 button and a red fox

Oct 24,
Went down stocton about 4ish. farmer was cutting beans in the field I wanted to hunt, i went in the far corner after letting him know I just had a bow. I setup in a blowdown that had some vines and good cover. I saw a doe early move by out of range. soon after a decent buck that looked to have some mass went by out of range. I then saw a piebald that I thought was a doe , took a shot at 30 yards give or take and landed back some. took out a slight nip of back lung , the gutbag and the femoral artery. it went less than 40 yards.
1 doe, 1 buck and 1 dead piebald

Oct 25 I went back to the same spot at 4ish again . I saw a 4 point that i drew on once , then again on its return trip. I later saw a basket 5 or 6 point skirt the marsh. just near dark a tall racked large bodied buck came by in shooting range. it was tall but not very wide at all. It wasnt the best light and i would like to get a second look at that one. definitely a mature buck and real tall . I need to get in closer to the marsh edge, wont get a chance till maybe fri evening or sat evening.
3 bucks
