Here ya' go. First official doe of the year for the contest. Bow kill at 12 yds. Liver shot. Ran 300 yds, 3 hours of tracking in the wet leaves by lantern light and it was all over. Got her quartered an in the fridge at 1:30am this morning. Whew. Hmmm photo link not reliable... trying a different host site...

Thanks bowman - About 10pm last night and heading for the park-land creek I was beginning to think I wasn't going to recover this one.

Here's the buck from this weekend, taken with the muzzleloader 13.5 inch inside spread, 8 points. I've posted the story on HuntAmerica's muzzleloader forum. If you like, I'll post it here as well.

Here's a nice little Maryland 8-point buck I took with a bow last Sunday - one of our two Sunday hunts this year. I'd guessed his weight about 140-150lb earlier, but the guy at the meat processor said he's probably more like 125-130lb. He's accompanied by a button buck shot the night before, that I thought was a doe. I actually picked that particular one out of a group of 3 because he looked to be the most likely to be a doe. Oh well. Little deer are tasty, even buttons, and still count as an 'doe' or antlerless deer with the DNR, even if they don't here. The buck's tongue was hanging out, so I thought I'd do the same, but in the picture it got covered by the tarp. Oh well. Another shot of the 8-point buck. The antlers look more impressive than they really are. The inside spread is only around 12-13 inches or so. They will probably become rattling antlers, because one of the brow-times is broken anyway, so I'll probably saw both brow-tines off. Here's a shot with the tape. If I remember they way you're measuring these, this one is about 13 inches, but I'll let Rick decide on that. Since it's a bow kill it might increase my score, but I'm not sure. Perhaps Rick can weigh in on that too.
