Senate bill S 3696 is coming up for a vote in the near future, along with it's companion house bill HR 2679 . Both of these bills are intended to reverse a law passed in the '70s that forces taxpayers to pay the legal fees of the plaintiff in cases of freedom of expression in regards to religion. As it stands now, when the ACLU brings suit to stop things like public prayer, the pledge of allegiance, removing the 10 commandments from public property, etc., the taxpayers are forced to pay their bills, no matter who wins. In other words, we are paying the ACLU to sue us. Is it any wonder that they're so quick to sue when they're getting rich by doing it? Dick

England has it all over us in this area and it's long overdue we fix this problem.
The solution is 'loser pays'. It works over there and it'll work here as well.

The problem with this system is that the taxpayers pay and the ACLU doesn't pay, no matter who wins. We pay them, win or lose.
