More recurves are damaged from stringing/unstringing than anything else so a good stringer is a must. On another forum there is some discussion on which type is best. Here's a link to the options; stringersthoughts???

The foot method is bad for twisting limbs and popping tips unless one is very careful. Back in the old days I had a stringer and always used it. Basicly a stringer is a long string with pockets on each end for the limb tips. You step on the stringer, pull up on the bow handle, and slip the bowstring into place. The stringer allows you to center the bowstring on the bow before allowing the pressure on it. The thread, so far, isn't as informative as I'd hoped but here's the link. stringer threadabout the cheapest bow insurance you can buy. I'll definately have one soon, just haven't decided on which one yet.
