I'm not sure and certainly no expert but I think it's perception. As far as I know Pearsons are good bows but they never were as popular as Bears and none of the models (that I know of) stand out as exceptional. Per ebay, if you look the bow over carefully, check the feedback of the seller, and read the speel very carefully, a serviceable bow can be had for a good price ... but as always, buyer beware. I always ask about limb twist if not stated and get very wary if I can't get a straight answer. Something to consider is what happens should you decide to resell one? Some of them fetch decent prices and some don't. You never really know beforehand with Pearson. A lot of guys that have interest in vintage bows like to collect bows that have at least some resale demand/value. Generally bows of 50 pounds and up bring better prices. Combine that with a bow of collector interest and the prices can soar at times on certain bows. Actually I think Pearsons are undervalued to a degree and I wouldn't hesitate to buy one if I thought it in good shape and I wanted a low cost bow. I would not buy one of less than 50# though as some bows loose a little poundage over time. Pearson is a solid name in archery but they never were hi end. Here's a link showing some various vintage bows. Notice there were some gimmic type bows made that were flops short and long term. Also some of the brands and models are very coveted today and bring top dollar. www.archeryhistory.com/recurves/recurvesmain.htmlike I said, I'm no expert at all on vintage bow values and ebay auctions are anybody's guess, but I've noticed some brands and models when combined with a good sales presentation get lots of bids. Likewise I've noticed Pearsons, some Herters bows, and others go for cheap sometimes. If you see some you want a 2nd opinion on (fwiw), post it or send me a pm and I'd be glad to look. oh, keep an out out in the tradgang classifieds also. I got my Mamba from there.

Perhaps I should also point out the Mamba I recently bought is the nicest recurve I've ever had. I've always gone for the cheapest recurves I could find that are what I consider decent shooters. There is quite a difference. If at all possible I suggest the approx 150 bucks to buy a nicer bow as money well spent. When you buy cheap, the want is always there for an upgrade but if you buy fairly nice to begin with, I think it's cheaper in the long run. I think the DH bows are a definate step up from Herters and Pearson offerings.
