I seem to be able to get the basic shape and the edge I can get isnt bad but....... every one I have so far is too thick and has to weigh too much. I haven't broke any but I also haven't gotten any thin enough for me yet to even think about shooting. another problem is convienience of being able to do this process. Can't do it in the house, on the porch or anywhere that you don't want small glass shards everywhere that flaker is nice . is it just some copper nails cut and epoxied into the antler ? I have done all mine by the percussion method so far ( why they are too thick ) , I haven't done much flaking .

It's heavy copper wire, one thick and one about the diameter of a roofing nail.
I was tryin to thin when I broke the head. I knapped a little here in my chair and managed to get a splinter of it in my toe. The splinter wasn't so bad but didn't want to come out and I had to dig and dig with a needle to remove it. I can usually catch the flakes in the pad I'm using but a few get loose.
Pressure flaking is more controled I think. It's definately best done outside in daylight, maybe in a deer stand.
