my daughter woke up on friday with a sore throat and just didnt feel all that well. we thought it was a summer cold coming on. well by friday afternoon she had puffed up and had a rash all over her we gave her benedryl and called her doctor, who told us to keep an eye on it and see if the meds did anything to relieve it. friday night at midnight she was worsening and we were afraid she would have respatory trouble while we were sleeping so we decided to take her to the hospital emergency room . they actually didnt know squat and thought maybe it was a spider bite. they gave her a shot and a prescription and said it would be gone in 24-48 hours or so. well now its monday and the hives just seem to come and go. we cant figure it out. we thought maybe the new floor but we had her hold a piece up to her arm for a while and it had no effect so we kind of so far eliminated that. so she is miserable in this heat etc with the hives . we tried oatmeal and epsom salts bathes which helped some but didnt clear it up. this morning she woke up and is covered once again so off to the pediatrician tomorrow since they couldnt get her in today . i'm baffled as to why it goes away and then appears all over again, not as bad as friday with no swelling but a hardy rash indeed. anyone have any clue on why or what i could do to relieve the uncomfortable level she is in?

Don't panic. We went thru something similar with Aaron and it went away just like it started. Kinda funny now. Aaron would see the welts and go puke. Just the sight of himself covered in em made him sick. ;D I'm sure she'll get better with or without the Dr and the associated aggravation.

the doctors seem just as baffled as Barb and I are. if we could figure out why it would feel better anyway . the thing is she has never been one to get sick easy, takes that after me i think , but with this its just so much of a darn mystery why i'm not nearly as overconcerned as Barb is , i figured its running its coarse, she wants to have answers ... Momma Hen kicking in i guess. she is very uncomfortable though and i hate seeing her like that and cant do much about it

I hate to hear that,Rick.I hope she gets better fast!!It definately sounds like an alergic reaction to something. But with it leaving and coming back, the cause would have to be doing the same.Maybe she just developed an allergy to a pet or something that is not always in her presence? Is that possible?

Could be Eczema. Regular doctors have a hard time identifying this. A dermotologist will know for sure. Alot of people have it, all ages can get it. There is no known cause or cure. The only thing you can do for it is use prescribed creams to relieve the itch and make it go away, until it comes back again.

i dont think it is eczema , its an allergic reaction to something , most likely a spider bite. they have been hanging out since last friday but seem to be slooowwwllly leaving . today was much better , hopefully they are on the way out.
