things picked up real fast in the fields the last few days. they are cutting just about all the corn in sight . I figure by the way things were looking today it won't be long and all the fields will be cut clean . Now I can see whats been behind the corn all summer .

Corn's coming in here too along with the early beans. About half the peanuts have been turned and the smell of cotton defoliant is in the air. Seems like it's getting earlier and earlier every year.
The sawtooth oaks are still holding their acorns though.

You sure are right about getting earlier and earlier. used to be well into Oct before they even began, now it rarely makes it into Oct at all. I sure wish I could find some sawtooths up here , been looking around at doctors offices and such but no luck.

Green Giant (now Seneca) has a huge corn packing plant here. Most of the corn around here is under contract for canning and they're just finishing harvesting it. Since it's dry here, much of the field corn is left to dry in the field and often isn't cut until months from now. It makes for good late season geese, though.
