Feet: Smart wool socks to pull the moisture away, 2000 gram insulated rubber boots that are not tight. Body: Moisture wicking base layer, Heavy Poly over that. Pack the insulated stuff in. Go in light, get to stand dry!!! An oversized insulated coverall, especailly if it is breathable and water resistant is the bomb!!! Hands: Don't let hands get cold initially, once they acclimate they're not too bad to manage. Wear a mitt to stand if necessary. Light breatheable thinsulate glove. Hands must be dry!!! Hand warmer pockets. Chemical hand warmers if necessary. I am a complete sissy when it comes to the cold, but I have never not made a hunt due to the weather. I can give you specific stuff to buy that isn't too expensive that will get the job done. For example: New Mickey Boots: www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=66036Here is a coverall priced right: www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=277959Smartwool socks can be picked up on ebay cheap in quantity.

try not to sweat going in but once on stand overdress. good boots , socks, gloves pants etc is the only answer , cheap stuff ussually just dont get it in brutal cold. sometimes in real bad stuff i put the heatwarmer handwarmers into my shirt pocket. it gets it warm around the chest area and warms the blood as it gets pumped through the heart... thats my theory anyway .

There is no way for a country boy from NC to stay warm in a midwestern deerstand after Nov 4th.
I wait until after midnight to practice in my whitey tighteys to get use to the conditions but I still get cold.

Whitey tighteys? Yikes! That's a scary image.
It sounds odd, but here's how I say warm... If the temps are in the mid-to-high 20's and/or 30's, I wear shorts and a t-shirt to hike to my stand (if it's a long way) and then after cooling down a bit I put on all my warm clothes at the stand. This keeps me from sweating out my warm clothes on the way in, which then stay scent-free and dry.
If it's in the teens I wear a little more on the way to the stand.

Walt doesn't use tobacco products and that may be the reason for his strange behavior in cold weather. ;D Actually, I wear longjohns under wool pants and shirt with a jacket under good coveralls. I have several coveralls with varying degrees of insulating quality. I try to choose the ones that fit the bill. Cabela's DryPlus insulated coveralls are very warm but a little heavy. When I break those out, it's plenty cold. My feet and knees usually give me problems first.
