I want to hear opinions from everyone about the future of the site. Don't be afraid to give your honest opinions, honestly I can take it ;D I have the oppurtunity now to change things . first let me apologize for not being able to do this much earlier, but now I have the chance and feel like it will be a big step forward. I plan on moving us to a website instead of just a simple proboard site that we are on now. The new website will have many more features than the one we are working with now. most importantly It will have a backup system that we do not have now and no information will be lost should someone at proboards decide to delete us for any reason. Google and other search engines will recognise us much easier , thus more members and more to read .

I think it could be great, but expanded membership is what we really need. We need to brainstorm more on how to make that happen.

comments; our site name hinders growth; ie, "I'm from Ohio, not the east coast." the most popular sites have lots and lots of forums and generally 'specialised' posters like their own corner to talk with like minds. not all members have fast connections. A site that responds quickly is much more user friendly to us dial up guys and a lot of the people in remote areas I'd like to see join have only dialup. Our slideshow is an example. Currently it takes 20 seconds for each page to open for me because of the slideshow loading. I like looking at it from time to time but 20 seconds load time is actually pushing me to faster sites. Handing out business cards is a very good way to get the type members we want. I gave out all the cards Rick gave me and mine as well. I had guys asking for a card when they saw me give one away but I ran out. Trust me, every one of the bucks I put up, the hunter and friends have our cards. I'm hoping to see some of them join. I'd like to see that in consideration in the comments about the bucks if we want new members. I'm a salesman above all other things and I know prompting questions that allow for someone to talk about themselves in a good light is the key to success. all I have time for at present ...

The one thing with the new site would be the easier url address and the search engines find our site.
I have just went through all this with my site and so far everyone from my old proboard site is pleased with the new site. It is easier to find in google, if you type in wv sportsman on google you will see our link in the number 2 slot!
I honestly think it would be a lot better than the proboards site. Proboards OWNS this and you can not get a copy of your board at all. I know I checked. No backup of your board other than the backups proboards does. You can not convert your proboard boards or topics to any other site that you create.
With the new site you will be able to upload your own images to the site instead of using photobucket, you will have a chat room without having to leave the board to get to it. There are a lot of nice features on the layout that freedomrules3 is thinking about going to.
Rick I am behind you, and I hope the rest of the membership is also. I hope you don't mind me mentioning my site. Maybe if some of them came and checked my site out they may see what your wanting to develop. Just an idea.

I think it could be great, but expanded membership is what we really need. We need to brainstorm more on how to make that happen. I agree that expanded membership is needed, this is a big step in that direction. we are sort of stuck where referals are the only method for our membership to grow in our current place. Google simply won't recognise this site , it will however recognise the new site. this will direct more guests our way. we have hit a wall that we must face and imo the new website could be a ladder to get over it .

I'm a salesman above all other things and I know prompting questions that allow for someone to talk about themselves in a good light is the key to success. all I have time for at present ... originally the site was formed to unite guys who lived closer than the midwest to get together and form a sort of internet hunt club. We certainly welcome all hunters from all parts of the country . They are certainly more than welcome to join in and teach and learn through posting, but keeping the original purpose of a closer to home forum it should stay the same. anyone east or west of the Ohio river could easily meet in a central location for a hunt say in Ohio . actually Dan would probably beat us there . For others farther west it would take more effort. I hate to lose what little recognition we may have already , besides I just blew $30 on the web addy for 2 years lol. ;D We have always opened new forums as needed or asked for. Having unused forums looks bad imo. the reloading forum is a fine example, no posts since april . we can stress that forum sections can be made available if wanted somewhere on the home page. proboards has always been notoriously slow . the new site should be quicker. the slide show as well as the moon chart will be on the home page and not on the forum page , making the forum less cluttered and it should load quicker. also there wont be the google advertisers anymore. this should actually help you especially if you bookmark just right into the forum page. I agree nothing better than a handshake and a site card to promote fellas to come by. I've given quite a few away as well as stuck a few in bow packages at my wallys lol. when they bought the bow one was inside ;D. I started with 250 and have maybe 40 or so left. I should have gave ya more of em
