The 2005 Session is almost over but we still have work to do.
We are half the way there to passing HB 1086 which is the hunting heritage protection act. In essence it would ensure a no net loss of public hunting lands.
The anti's are doing a great job of spinning this as a bill to allow people to kill deer on any land owned by the state.
The bill is stalled in the Senate EEA committee and one of the key swing votes is on the fence.
HB 1086 has passed in the House (88-42) is now stalled in Senator Brochin’s committee.
Time is short, so act now. Remember to keep it polite and respectful.

Dave, Do you happen to have a link to where i could read the bill? definitely sounds like one we need. if we could only get one that didnt allow them to clearcut any public hunting land but selective cut only i would jump for joy. when you fellas get here in 2 weeks I'll show you how the state likes to "manage" the public hunting land. I have spent many a meeting on this with the dnr ,only to be told to "mind my own business" . I went to college and took forrestry so i realize you must cut , i just question their method and the mess that is left. somehow i believe its more about the money than "land management". Fact is the legislature would probably love to sell off some public land for housing, from the sounds of this bill , we need this one. Rick

sounds to me like the legislators would / should be more concerned with protecting the amount of land/enviroment for public use than the protection of an auto accident waiting to happen.
