Wow, I saw a very nice mature buck last night, about 2 seconds too late. He slipped through a shooting window behind me at 20yds, and I only had time to see him walk by. Man, are they quiet. Then he gave me a couple of very iffy shots at 32 and 36 yards, which I declined. Big gnarley rack, bases thick as my wrist, 8-10 inch G2's, probably 180-200lb field-dressed weight. Wow. I almost hate to leave here to go to Ohio. There's some rule in fishing about not leaving fish to find fish. Oh well, Ohio is not all about the fish. (Just mostly).
I had a forky and an 8-pointer with 12" spread spend a half-hour under my stand inside 20yds, giving me any number of shots, but the big boy has my attention now. Trouble is, I've probably only got a couple of more hunts here before Ohio. (If I go).

Is'nt that always the case. Just before your ready to go to somewhere else where there's a good reputation for good bucks out sneaks a real nice one where you normally hunt. I hope you make the right decision twanger. It's always a tough choice. Maybe he'll still be there after you get back from Ohio. Good luck.
