I just got permission to hunt a farm with plenty of Turkeys, but there is a catch, the guy who gives out permission helps run cattle on this farm and he only wants me to bow hunt the turkeys. He has little calves laying around on the ground and he doesn't want shot flying all around.I told him I can't blame him for that.
The funny thing is he drove me over to a place where he feeds his cattle and there was a flock of about 20 turkeys with two Toms strutting around. He drove the truck to within about 15 yards of the Toms before they meandered on down in the woods.I told him I might need him to drive me down there with me in the back of the truck for me to be able to kill one with a bow.LOL
I guess my problem is I need some pointers on how to go about taking one of those Toms with my bow.I have only tried to hunt Turkeys with my gun so this would be an added challenge.I do have a blind and I can set it up in some Cedars that these birds were close to.Do you all have other suggestions for me?Thanks for any help,Jeff

Hey Todd,They just passed the law of being able to use a crossbow in Ky.I'am trying not to spend any extra money this year on Turkey hunting equipment just the gas and eating expenses is hopefully all I will have to spend this year. That is as long as I can stay away from Wal-Mart to just pick up a few things.

well I'm going to be bowhunting the birds and I only have one problem with it. Folding my blind back up. ;D That has to be the most aggravating thing I've attempted in regard to hunting.

I hear ya Alan.I'am still learning Turkey with a gun I sure don't need to take on another challenge without being better at the other first.

Given the time to properly setup and aim, I feel more deadly with my bow than I do with a shotgun.

I tried the bowhunting thing earlier this season without a blind. Hatracked was running the camera and got 30 min of a big boss tom strutting five feet from me and I still couldn't get a shot. Two more steps to my left would have cleared the brush but he wouldn't budge. I put the bow back on the hanger and have been chasing them with the gun. To me killing them with a gun is still plenty of fun.
