For you guys who have hunted birds alot, what is the big attraction to birds. >I spoke to JP about this and I still am looking for the attration that is drawing me in. The tails are all the same except for a young Jake and the spirs are small compaired to the antlers of a deer and the rope is mainly the same, 9" to 11" or 12"'s >The hunt is great , but I think what pulls me in is the intoxaction of the Gobble and either making it to a area that will get you in range of louring him in or finding a spot to set up on the bird is very exciting to me. >I'm wondering what's in this fasinating sport that seems to put you in the trance of getting the bird?

Dave,
For me it is the interaction with the game. Only until recently has deer calling came on. There is just something special about manipulating game into your setup and harvesting them. When you get a bird responding and then coax him into becoming hotter and hotter, closing the distance along the way there is nothing like it. The show they can put on can be quite the specticle. And let's don't forget, to call a long beard into gun is defying mother nature.
Same thing with ducks. I only started waterfowl hunting about 10 years ago and boy had I missed something. I don't think I would go 'all feathers' like a few I know, but interaction with game adds to the experience. I've wanted to elk hunt, but after turkey hunting, I'm afraid I'd find myself moving out west because of that addiction. LOL.

Bill, I got chills running up my spine when you talked about birds closing the distance LOL The river is a great place to duck and goose hunt. Many times I don't use decks, just go and call. Letting birds fly into a natural setting is awesome. After a few drop in many more will come. Sometimes I just paddle out in my canoe and set up on a flat rock , flip the canoe over on it's side and wait for the flight. The geese are thicker than skitters out there. And evening flight of Ducks and geese is amazing to watch, the River comes alive with all the chatter.

I believe Bill hit it on the head. just the idea that you can basically talk to the birds and tell them here i am. half the fun is the gobble while the show is the other half. the killing part is second to me, unless its the first tag and its a real good one, i can walk out empty handed and have one of the best hunts ever. its sad to shoot the final bird of the year and be tagged out. i could have tagged out a few times already, i keep saying not big enough lol, when really its that I don't want it to be over. if ducks are like turkeys, i may have to give that a shot, i know many great ducking spots here, just never was interested.

Hawksford, hype hell!!!!!!!!! Must be a southern thing? ? I feel anything that arrouses so damn much physical and psychcological responce probably wouldn't be hype......You remember that old particular rock and roll song that elicted so much stuff inside you when you were younger, probably if it still does it isn't hype. Over 30 years at that stuff and the search is still undeniable, the exactly the same ,excitemeant extreme!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!scdave
