The archery opener was slow, as the was the couple days that followed. I made up for the disappointment by setting my sights on a gobbler the afternoon of Labor Day. I managed to coax 4 long beards within range. After drawing on the lead bird and him getting spooky not stopping, I focused my attention on the third tom in line. With the tom facing dead on, I aimed for the base of the birds beard and let the arrow fly. The arrow hit about 1" left of the beard and exited between his legs. The bird dropped like a rock. Tad over 17lbs, 7 1/4" beard and 3/4" spurs. I'm guessing a jake from this past spring. Bird was moulting and not many of his feathers were mature. www.westernkentuckyoutdoors.com/LaborDayGobbler.jpg

nice job Bill, quite a little bonus . no fall season here except in the western part of the state. you also have to give up a spring bird for your fall bird here and i cant ever see me doing that.
