I've got snow geese flying over my house every day well within bowrange so I'm thinkin perhaps a snow with the bow would be good. It's been years since I waterfowled so I got to get up on the regs. I know I need to get to the post office and buy a Fed duck stamp. I don't think I need a state one since I've had a sportsman's license for over 20yrs. Not up on all this stuff so I started lookin around at the info and found this article on big game waterfowling in NC. www.ncgameandfish.com/hunting/ducks-geese-hunting/nc_aa113803a/Last time I checked, it was perfectly legal to hunt waterfowl with a bow and in a lot of circumstances a bowhunter can shoot while gun hunters can only watch. High flying flocks are fair game with the bow. ;D

Just don't use your lead broadheads! ;D And remember:What goes up MUST come down. That goes for the arrow and the goose.Maybe you best break out the helmet?

Watched flock after flock this evening. Sounds like a football game goin on out in the river right now. There must be a thousand or more out there.

We get literally thousands of snow geese around here at this time also. i'll have to run through a pack in the field and take a picture one time lol. sometimes i go by a field going to work and it is full of em, big fields too. i thought about bowhunting or slinging a few arrows at some here by the house. of coarse i can only shoot towards the clearcut, otherwise it may go through a roof . i like the sounds like a football game description, very true there. i've never hunted them or ate them before. gonna have to try some sometime soon though, theres just way too many not to.

I'll only shoot where my arrows will come down in a clear field.
Plenty of time. The season's open into March here. ;D

Good luck, NC!
Here are the regs, in case anyone is interested:
Unlawful Methods
Migratory game birds may not be taken with traps, snares, nets, crossbows, rifles, pistols, swivel guns, fish hooks, poisons, drugs, explosives or stupefying substances. Migratory game birds may not be taken with a shotgun capable of holding more than 3 shells. Shotguns larger than 10 gauge may not be used to hunt migratory game birds.
Explosives. Damn, I was going to try that this weekend...

$15 for a duck stamp!!! They sure have gone up since the old days. That's sure to tighten up my aim. I started out just goin for some fun but fifteen bucks for a stamp puts a little more seriousness to it.

went out back this morning a little while and had a flock of swans come over REAL close but no snows. went back this evening and most of the snows went south of me but one flock came directly over. My arrow is out there somewhere. ;D now that it's dark I'll take a handlight and see if I can find it.

that's what I do, just sit in a lawn chair at the edge of the back yard and wait for them to fly over. I'm wondering the max height the arrow will penetrate going nearly straight up if I do get lucky and hit one. I'm figuring around a hundred yards should still be in lethal range, I don't know. Goose feathers and down may be tuff to get thru at long distance. btw, I found my arrow this morning. Didn't see it last night. It was about 150yds from where I shot.

swans swans swans, went out yesterday evening and again this morning. Only saw 3 snows but hundreds of swans. It's lookin like the geese are leaving and swans moving in. Last week it was the other way around.
