do you have any neighbors ? it looks like you do by the slips. will they hate you for it? is it legal? i'm not sure, i would be prone to ask someone over the phone maybe a dnr guy before i ventured into such a thing. it may cost you a bunch of grief and money. migratory birds are one of the most regulated creatures you'll find . they are pretty serious too and the fines are stiff . if its illegal, its a sure way to get your name on the dnr site . It's legal as far as federal law goes. I can't speak about the state or local ones.

You should be fine as long as your neighbors aren't the type to give you heartburn about it. Actually, you could set up off your pier and hunt the way that I understand the way the laws are written. Due to the proximity of your neighbors, you would probably have to have permission to discharge a shotgun, but a bow should not be an issue. There is a law that states that it is unlawful to discharge a firearm within the Baltimore metro area. However, and I know from personal experience, the second part of that law clearly states except for the participation in hunting related activities.
I know this because a few years back, my step-father and a friend of mine were sighting in their guns on a 10 acre wooded parcel behind his marina and adjacent to a shopping center. Someone called the police regarding shots fired and the responded rather quickly. I managed to pull away from where we were parked as they pulled up without incident and was able to communicate to them that the police had arrived. They did the right thing by unloading and casing their weapons and walking out to talk to the officers. Upon further discussion, the officers sited this law in a hand book that they carry, however they neglected to turn the page and continue on to part 2 regarding hunting related activities. They proceeded to issue both of them citations and confiscated their guns. Needless to say this case didn't even go to trial. Upon review of the facts the judge dismissed it before it came before him.
Enough about that. I here duck hunters all of the time set up on the Bodkin.
