Here getting ramped up I was shooting both bows and shooting a little better with the Outback. For convenience I had been practising with the 7595s with an 85 grain point out of both bows. So just for the hell of it I screwed on some 125 grain points on the 7595s, bringing the total arrow weight to 423-425 and whamo the XT became a tack driver and forgiving too. Clearly superior to the Outback. I then tried the 3-71s with a 100 grain point and that was even better.
Obviously there's a lot of variables going on there, so it's hard to say whether it's the increased arrow weight or FOC or arrow constitency. But do you guys try different point weights and check to see what the bow likes?
And bowan specifically for you, have you compared the grouping between a 100 grain and 125 grain point on the 3-71s?

I haven't, even though I've shot both.
I've gotten real slack lately with my compounds, shooting the recurve more.
Furthermore, I have somewhat of a difficult time these days.
For years I was very intense about precision accuracy and I think I developed fair form memory from it. Nowdays with arrows costing so much, I've become robinhood shy to the point of not shooting groups as well as I probably could. In the past I zeroed right on the nock of an already shot arrow but with the equipt and arrows I have now, that would likely be bad news at close range so I shoot one arrow at each bull. Both 100s and 125s shoot very well at 20yds and I hadn't noticed any differences at close ranges.
That puts me back to longer ranges to check this stuff and I haven't been shooting enough to feel precision accurate to the needed degree at 40yds and beyond.
The desire to kill a deer with a recurve and stone head has messed me up to a degree. ;D

I've been experimenting between the 100 and 125 grain tips. It likes the accs with the 125's very well. I still gotta do some broadhead shooting and sight in. It was too windy to try today (20 mph) and i just shot fieldtips till it was completely dark. This Toxonics sight is the brightest i have ever had easily. The light collecting coils do an excellent job. I was shooting till I figure after legal time, wife called me a poacher when i came in it was so dark lol. I dont have any noticable different between the two being on target the 100's and 125's hit very close.

Rick, what's your setup again? Draw length and weight. Also which ACCs?

60# bow but when we checked it on the scale is was pulling 62bs. 27 1/2 draw . I'm using the 3-71's , but they are still 29 " in length. I seriously need to throw a few broadheads through some paper today, decide on a head to use from what i have and zero it in. I shot a muzzy, razor and titanium head yesterday but it was blowin 20 or so crosswind, not exactly the best conditions. I gotta stick with 125 or 85 grains, being i got a pile of em . I have some nugent 28 " arrows i can also use so i can check and see the effect the arrow length has on the heads.

Even at 29" I have to think you'll need the 125 point weight weight. If you cut them down, for sure.
I actually found I needed more point weight, to I tapped out the inserts and ordered the Goldtip weights to add 20 grains. I have a ton of broadheads in the 80-85 grain range too, so I'll adjust the point weight by adding weight to the insert.
Next year I'll take it to the longer ranges and see what point weight the XT and the 3-71s like.
BTW Rick if you get the opportunity to pick up a carbide damper, it's a nice touch on the XT. I have the large grommets with the carbide damper on the bottom and the large brass damper on the top, lord this bow gets better and better.
