Israel and I trailered the boat up the river about 10 miles and put over yesterday. We began by drift fishin with bottom rigs out near the channel and I caught a few white perch and a small cat but he wasn't even gettin a bite. After a while I decided to go on across and let him cast the shoreline cypresses. I already had a black worm on one of my rods and he tied on a diving minnow. Off we went casting, wind perfect to push us along the shore. After I caught a couple of chunky bass Israel switched to a black worm too but to no avail. I don't know how many bass I caught but try as I might to teach the boy about worm fishin, the bass just wouldn't play with him yesterday. I think he had a good time anyway but I sure wish he coulda been me. I noticed the wind had got up some and crossing 2 miles of open water in my 14ft boat coming back turned into quite an adventure, at least for me, who got sopping wet in the back. When we got in Israel asked me how I got so wet? Lookin ahead, he never noticed the waves that came over the side.
