Here are the steps in posting up a photo. 1) you must have the photo downloaded on your hard drive . 2) you must then download your photo onto a "host site" here are the 2 I use. photoshop seems to do clearer pics imo photobucket.com/register.phpwww.hunt101.com/index.php3) once registered you can "upload" pictures to your gallery there. hit "upload" and the "browse " button . open the file you want to download and push "submit". 4) once the picture is downloaded, open the file in your gallery. on that page you will find a "url" address. copy and paste this url addy to your post. the picture should show up in your post. When you post a photo to a board like this one, you only post a link to it, not the photo itself. So, the photo must be somewhere on the net so the link can find it. It can't find it on your hard drive. Photos use a tremendous amount of server space and most boards don't have nearly enough space for them.
If your ISP gives you space for a webpage, you can often use that space to put your pics. However, some ISP's don't let you link to them from boards. I use the space provided by my ISP and everything works great. Many sites allow you to upload photos, like Webshots.com for example, but they don't allow you to link to them so they won't show up here. Hunt101 is one site that DOES allow links to forums.
To upload a photo from your harddrive, you need an FTP (file transfer protocol) program. If you upload to a site like Hunt101 or Photobucket, they have a built in FTP that does it all for you. If you use your own space, you can download a free FTP from FTPX.com. It's kind of tricky to learn to use because, being free, they don't waste much time explaining it. Once you figure it out, though, it's very quick and simple.
