This is a cheap, easy way to get a good photo on the wall. If you have a Costco near you, they can print up to 12x18" and only charge $3 for it. You can get a really nice, large photo hung for the price of a cheap frame. Ever tried to find a matte for a photo but just couldn't find a color that looked good? I found directions in a book on how to print your own with Photoshop. The cheap Elements version that I have works just fine. Using the Mt Rainier photo that I posted, here's one way to class up a shot. I made a larger layer with the photo centered in it. I added a thin white border to look like the cut edge of matte paper, then picked up the color out of the photo so it's guaranteed to match. Finally, I gave it some texture so it looks kind of like paper. If you print it on glossy paper, the matte will be shiny, but if you frame it under glass, you can't tell the difference. After you've done this a couple of times, it only takes 10 to 15 minutes. It's not a long, involved job. It wouldn't take more than another 5 min to double matte one if you want to get fancy. The hardest part would be selecting a good combination of colors. My eye for color isn't very good. The 2d photo is one that I 'matted' a while back but I used gold from the sky as a thin border instead of white. Dick
