Just like it was 2 weeks ago, on the way home from work just now deer were everywhere. I saw 38 give or take all together. 2 weeks ago it was the same way. i expect to see them the next couple of days. none of the land was public but it was nice to see some made it .

Rats. I worked until pitch dark tonight so I couldn't see in the fields when I came home. I've been wondering if these 'active evenings' are a local deal or if they're active everywhere on these days.

I've often wondered the same thing. Sometimes I'll see 50 to 100 deer in the fields on the way home, and sometimes not a one. I've always wanted to write the date down & other info & see if there's a correlation to something.... but I never do.

I saw about 8 on the way home just now. saw a buck with one horn still . I think i'll take a run down snowhill and see whats gonna go on. might get an early eye on a good gobbler or two .

only saw maybe just over a dozen deer last night , no horns. i did see a bunch of turkey tracks in the sandy road though but no birds in the field or any roosting gobbles, i stayed and watched and listened till after dark.

From what I saw there's plenty of birds everywhere. They just don't get real active till afternoons. Md gets over on hunters with the noon cutoff time as it doesn't allow for DST. It should go until 1:00 at least.

i agree about the noon cutoff, just too early. they could certaimly move it up to 1 without hurting anything.
my theory on the deer movement thing is this. it seems that everytime the moon gets between 35% to 70% on either side of the full or new moon i seem to see lots of open activity by deer. if this theory is even close to right , the next few evenings should be productive. keep the eyes peeled.

while I can't argue with your theory, sometimes I see an unusual amount of heavy activity right around a full moon ... esp if the weather has been rainy or cloudy as often occurs around full moons. I'm thinkin cloudy periods around a full moon may be the best days of all to hunt. might be interesting to look back to dates we have recorded and check the moon at those times. Every time I do, it comes out lookin like gobbledygook. ;D

Ok, now we're gettin somewhere. Yesterday afternoon in the big field I usually see lots of deer in, at 2:00 there was a big bear( 400lbs?) watching 2 deer farther on down the field. unusual. Just before dark when I came back by, the bear was gone and many deer were in the field and more were coming out.

went to dinner tonight (a rare night) and left the house at 7 :15 . again the deer were pouring out like it was midnight. moon phase at 72% so i'm still just in my theory window. the next few days things should slow down some until it gets on the other side of the full moon. gonna have to keep an eye on this for sure. it certainly would make things easier to plan out of state hunts
